Remembering "Bapuji" - Tribute by the Legend

Our father didn't tell us how to live; he lived, and let us watch him do it and today we find ourselves to be a so contented and above all a good human as he would have liked us to be…

These thoughts can be related easily to Harishji and his younger brother Niteshji.  Niteshji has shared some beautiful yet so touching snaps which echoes the fact that Bapuji (as they would call their late father) has been a guiding force and a beacon that they looked up to.

Well, we can only say, Bapuji would have been so proud today to see you so successful yet so humble.

At last, Niteshji, thanks for sharing these lovely snaps and such beautiful memories!!!

Bapuji -“When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry.” Bapuji, we miss you !!!

Mummy – “Who ran to help me when I fell, or kissed the place to make it well? ....My mother.” A proud mother of a proud son!!!

Bapuji With His Camera – “A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” Just the way “Bapuji” used to do…

Bapuji Capturing a Shot From Top of The Car - "There is no greatness without a passion to be great, whether it's the aspiration of an athlete or an artist or in this case a legendary photographer.”

Bapuji With Kids-“Whatever they grow up to be, they are still our children, and the one most important of all the things we can give to them is unconditional love. Not a love that depends on anything at all except that they are our children.”

Like Father Like Son

As the old adage goes, a father leaves his legacy behind with the good hearts and souls of the children and when you ponder upon the success and achievements of Harishji, we only realize how true it is. Harishji’s father Shri Chanduji was a legendary cinematographer and a still photographer who has been an inspiration to many in his era and was one of the finest cameramen to have ever graced Indian Cinema. He was an accomplished DOP in his own league and was ahead of his time with several path breaking films and stunning visuals. Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one photograph can lure our sense of awareness and Chanduji was one of them. With his spellbound photography and extravagant cinematic genius, he has left his legacy behind with films like Howrah Bridge, Mughal – E- Azam , Ziddi and Kashmir Ki Kali to name a few.

He was a guiding force behind Harishji’s success and inspired him to better his work with the best and move on with life. Harishji believes that the values and moral ethics which were inculcated by his Dad have only made him a better individual and a far greater human. Here’s a small message / poetry which conveys Harishji’s regards and tributes to his legendary father without whom he would have not been what he is !!!

Thank you Dad for always being there for being strong, yet showing you cared.
For being my protector and setting the rules for the rides, the money and the help with school.

For all the times I was grounded for my own good I may not have been happy, but I always understood
That I am lucky to be one of the few to have a Dad that loves me as much as you do.
